2006 Mentorship and Monitoring
SAIMED offers Mentorship to emerging and community media that participated in the training programmes. Mentorship addresses issues and challenges facing the enterprises that cannot be adequately dealt SAIMED brings into these enterprises expertise to accelerate their growth. In some cases clients are attached to mature media enterprises to be mentored by experienced mentors there. Through this they also learn industry best practices. Once the mentorship is provided monitoring and evaluation will be carried out to evaluate the impact of the courses.
A mentorship and monitoring program was carried out between the months of March to August 2006. A total number of 18 enterprises, two to four emerging and/or community media enterprises in each of the following countries participated in the program: Botswana, Lesotho, Zambia, Swaziland, Malawi and Zimbabwe. The mentorship was an entrepreneurial development follow-up to enterprises that went through training in 2003/04 on areas of Board Orientation, Financial Management, Sales & Marketing and Business Management.
