- What does SAIMED stand for?
- SAIMED stands for Southern Africa Institute for Media Entrepreneurship Development.
- Does SAIMED have offices in all the countries where it operates?
- SAIMED has only one office in Gaborone, Botswana. To contact us click Contact Us’ on the menu.
- Does SAIMED give loans?
- SAIMED does not provide loans to clients. Its role is to provide management training and capacity building support. SAIMED however can help you prepare a business plan for submission to a lending institution.
- Does SAIMED give grants?
- SAIMED does not give grants to clients except in cases where a donor wants to use the organization as a channel for the provision of such grants.
- Does SAIMED charge for its services?
- SAIMED does not charge for the sponsored services that it provides. But beneficiaries are expected to pay a small financial contribution as a sign of their commitment. However, SAIMED charges for all its commercial programmes and consultancy services.
- Can a public broadcaster use the services of SAIMED?
- Yes, a public broadcaster can use the services of SAIMED on a fee-paying or consultancy basis. In-house courses and workshops, and consultancy services can be provided to public broadcasters anytime.
- What should I do to receive SAIMED’s support?
- Just contact SAIMED by clicking ‘Contact Us’ on the menu and thereafter send us an e-mail in which you describe your requirements and SAIMED will work out a way to assist you.
- What is the relationship between SAIMED and MISA?
- SAIMED is owned by the Media Institute of Southern Africa (MISA) which is an advocacy organization whose role is to promote media diversity, pluralism, self-sufficiency and independence. In providing its services, SAIMED is indirectly contributing to the same goals.
- Can SAIMED provide services to organizations and companies outside the media sector?
- SAIMED was established to provide support to media enterprises. Therefore, the organization cannot provide its services outside the media sector.
- Can SAIMED help me obtain a loan from Samdef?
- SAIMED can help a client to obtain a loan from Samdef by providing them with support in the preparation of a business plan. SAIMED can refer to Samdef media enterprises wishing to apply for loans from the organisation after satisfying itself that the enterprise can adequately handle the loan.
- Who funds SAIMED?
- SAIMED has cooperating partners such as OSISA, NIZA and Freevoice who support its programmes.
- Can SAIMED give me an educational scholarship to study journalism?
- No. SAIMED does not provide educational scholarships.
- I am interested in studying graphics design. Can you support me?
- SAIMED’s area of emphasis is business management. Although graphics design is important, there are other organizations that provide that kind of support.
- Can SAIMED provide services to Portuguese speaking media enterprises?
- SAIMED is keen to provide support to media enterprises in Portuguese speaking countries. Using interpreters, SAIMED can provide whatever support may be required.
- Can SAIMED offer its services to media organizations outside Southern Africa?
- SAIMED offer its services to media organizations outside Southern Africa on a fee-paying or consultancy basis.
