Training

SAIMED offers training and mentorship to emerging, community and commercial media enterprises in the SADC. The training is offered regionally using the extensive short course format (4-5 days).These activities are usually supported by SAIMED’s cooperating partners. The purpose of these programmes is to build emerging, community and commercial media enterprises into strong firm capable of growing into mature enterprises.

The objective of the training courses is to impart business management, financial management and sales and marketing knowledge and skills to participants, to improve the performance of their enterprises. These activities are offered in a practical manner so that a transfer of skills actually occurs.

The community and emerging media training focus on the following courses.

Business Management Courses
It is important for media enterprise managers to understand the principles and major functions of management because the success in media enterprise depends on how it is managed.
Sales and Marketing Course
The course introduces participants to the concept of management and provides them with hands on marketing and sales skills. A business that cannot sell its products or services has no chance of growing or even surviving.
Financial Management Course
This course provides introductory concepts of accounting and finance, the key components of financial management. The course is aimed at individuals holding positions of responsibility, who may not necessarily be in possession of technical skills in accounting and finance.
Mentorship
Mentorship is offered to those emerging media that participated in the training programmes under the emerging media programme. Such mentorship will be intended to address problems facing the enterprises that are not solved through training. It will take the form of guidance and advice to emerging media enterprises in their development phase.
Not all the organizational problems can be overcome through training SAIMED believes that the involvement of a mentor in media enterprises is a very effective way of transferring skills into the enterprises thereby strengthening it. SAIMED’s mentorship programme has changed the fortune of some media enterprise forever.
